LNER Route: Leicester to Marylebone

Ex-WD 2-8-0 No 90103 passes through Rugby station whilst on a long up goods train on 13th May 1950. The photograph shows that despite having just climbed up from the GC bridge over the West Coast main line and the length of the train, it is not having to work very hard. Built in February 1943 by the North British Locomotive Company as WD No 77003 it was later renumbered by BR as No 63103 before being renumbered as No 90103. The locomotive remained in service until November 1965 when it was withdrawn from 40E Colwick shed.
