Close up of the down platform and the main station buildings with the entrance in the middle of the building and a telephone box to its right. The end screens are unusual and indicate that when first built the wind must have been perceived as a problem. The indentation to the platform face can be seen quite clearly in this view. Its not known why the platform had this feature; one school of thought thinks it might have been formed for lineside equipment whilst another view believes it might have been an access point for signal rodding operated by a ground frame located on the platform.
