GWR Route: Banbury to Wolverhampton
Warwick Station: gwrw395
GWR 2-6-2T Prairie No 5192 runs in to the station on a down
local passenger service probably bound for Stratford upon Avon circa 1930s. The
horsebox on the left would have shunted by either a visiting locomotive to
either of the nearby goods yards or even by shunting horse a common feature in
many railway yards prior to the Second World War. Number 5192 was built at
Swindon works in October 1934 and remained in service until June 1963 when it
was withdrawn from Stourbridge Junction shed to be scrapped in September 1963
by Swindon works.
