GWR 4-6-0 29xx Class No 2914 'Saint Augustine' is seen at the head of a down express service with a Siphon vehicle behind the tender

GWR 4-6-0 29xx Class No 2914 'Saint Augustine' is seen at the head of a down express service with a Siphon vehicle behind the tender circa 1930s. Siphon G's were originally milk vans used on the GWR, with many newly built by BR between 1950-55. Those rebuilt as ambulances during World War II returned but had a noticeable difference in boarding up of the louvres. BR used many for its Newspapers services. The Saint Class locomotive, No 2914, was built by Swindon works in August 1907 and remained in service until January 1946 when it was withdrawn from Weymouth shed to be scrapped shortly afterwards at Swindon works.
