GWR Route: Banbury to Wolverhampton

Warwick Station: gwrw385a

Close up view of Warwick Station's down platform and the station's main buildings with the short spur siding at the Leamington end of the platform

Close up of image 'gwrw385' showing Warwick Station's down platform and the station's main buildings with the short spur siding at the Leamington end of the platform. The undulating platform edge is a result of both the difference in height of the platform either side of the area in front of the station building and the face of the platform being indented. The height difference is typical at locations which saw rebuilding work where the 'new' platform was built to the later specification requiring platforms to be much higher than in the early days of railways. This might suggest that the platform in front of the building was rebuilt and if it were, then as the floor level of the building is the same of the platform in front, then the station building might have been rebuilt too.
