GWR Route: Banbury to Wolverhampton

Ex-GWR 0-6-0PT 55xx class Pannier Tank No 9740 is seen shunting wagons in to the goods yard from the mainline between paths circa 1948. As can be seen from the map of the goods yard access to the goods yard from the down line required trains to cross Coventry Road bridge in to the station before they were reversed back in to the yard. Number 9740 was built at Swindon works in January 1935 and remained in service until February 1962 when it was officially withdrawn from Swindon Works to be scrapped in July 1962 at Swindon works.
