GWR Route: North Warwickshire Line
The Lakes Halt: gwrtl10
Looking in the general direction of Birmingham. The sign on
the down (far) platform provides a warning to passengers but the wording is not
clear from the photograph. It can be assumed that it was a warning to
passengers not to cross to the other platform over the rails. There was no
barrow crossing and the official way of crossing over would have been for
passengers to retrace their steps up to the road bridge and use the path on the
other side.
According to Jim Hanley the white coloured hut was used as a
ticket office for a couple of years. Presumably the number of passengers using
the Halt did not warrant its continued use and the presence of the telephone
pole might indicate it subsequently provided railway workers with a telephone
link to adjacent signal boxes.
