Shirley Station: gwrsh647
BR built, but to a SR design, 4-6-2 pacific West Country
class No 34105 'Swanage' passes Shirley on the down line with an empty coaching
Sstock for Stratford upon Avon. The train, which was a special to Stratford,
ran to Tyseley for servicing and to wait for its return path. It is seen here
running back to Stratford for its return journey.The signal box can be seen
behind the loco and in the goods yard, behind the fence can be seen coal
merchants "huts" including the local Co'operative's. 24th July 1963
Number 34105 was built at Brighton works in March 1950. It
was withdrawn from Eastleigh shed in October 1964 and it too has survived into
preservation.
