GWR Route: North Warwickshire Line
Shirley Station: gwrsh488
This view along the platforms towards Birmingham shows that
the first twenty five years of its life was kinder than the next twenty five
years. The station is still well kept, platforms clean and tidy and flower beds
well looked after. The Second World War changed everything. Initially because
of the shortage of manpower and money latterly because of the difficulties of
attracting staff in competition to better paid jobs in the factories.
