Looking towards Alcester Road along the main approach to Stratford on Avon station showing horse-drawn carriages posed outside the station. The reason for the posing of the three carriages is unknown however the photograph was taken before the summer as there is little foliage on the trees or bushes. The flags and bunting behind the coaches would seem to indicate that it could be part of the Shakespeare celebrations which involved many of the Ambassadors to the Court each year. He was born in Stratford upon Avon and baptised on 26th April 1564. His actual birthdate is unknown, but is traditionally observed on 23 April, St George's Day. This date, which can be traced back to an eighteenth-century scholar's mistake, has proved appealing because Shakespeare died on 23 April 1616. He was the third child of eight and the eldest surviving son. C1900
