GWR Route: Stratford Upon Avon to Hatton

View of station looking towards Birmingham circa 1895. This photograph has appeared in publications but has always been printed in reverse, that is with the man on the platform being on the left not on the right as above. This photograph was taken between the two tracks at more or less the widest point as mentioned in the caption to image 'gwrsa505'.

The photographer must have had some influence to have been able to set up his camera in between the tracks as the process was slow and cumbersome. Whilst the signals are set to danger a train is soon to arrive judging by the dozen or so passengers waiting in the shadows on platform 2, on the left. This photograph might have been taken just before image 'gwrsa505' as the shadow are very similar.

Of interest is the canopy just in view on the left which was part of the building described in image 'gwrsa505' as being demolished to create the island platform for 2 and 3. The style of canopy's fascia is clearly different to that seen on the fascia of platform 1's canopy.
