Close up of image 'gwrsa505' of Stratford on Avon's up platform and building whilst to the left can be seen a footpath running from Alcester Road to the platform. Careful examination of the photograph shows that the building behind the footbridge is in fact the building seen standing on the replacement island platform which was completed sometime in 1910. This is borne out by comparing the gable end of the platform roof and the number and style of the chimneys. The Great Western Magazine of February 1911 recorded that the new roof was 222 feet long and made much use of glazing 'so as to give natural light' with the remainder being roofed with Taylor's Universal Sheeting. The new building was constructed in red brick with natural stone dressings and supplied by local quarries belonging to Tayton and Guiting Quarries Ltd. The new building accommodated a general waiting room, refreshment and tea rooms and toilet facilities.
