GWR Route: Banbury to Wolverhampton

GWR 4-6-0 No 5950 Wardley Hall is seen at the head of a down perishables express goods service passing through Solihull station. Express goods services required the wagons all to be fitted with vacuum-braked in order to be able to travel at much higher speeds. Built at Swindon works to Lot 290 in April 1935 No 5950 remained in service until November 1961 when it was withdrawn from Westbury shed to be scrapped at Swindon circa December 1961. Its first shed allocation was at Old Oak Common but by August 1950 it was recorded as being allocated to Tyseley shed and later, at Bath Road, Bristol in March 1959.
