GWR Route: Banbury to Wolverhampton
Rowington Junction & Troughs: gwrrj264b
Close up of image 'gwrrj264' showing the long line of
crippled wagons which were stored on the branch after the cessation of services
on 1st January 1915. The original station continued to be used as part of the
Henley in Arden goods facilities via a spur off the new 'North Warwickshire'
line. The branch had some of the track lifted as part of World War One economy
measures, however this section of the line remained to provide storage
facilities for wagons which required repairing when priorities changed from
producing war materials. It was still being used as a storage facility up to
and during the Second World War.
