Looking east towards the High Street with the lower section of the forecourt being used as car parking for passengers. The embankment is being cut away to provide a wide access path to the bay platform at the London end of the down platform, the bay being originally used to off-load road carriages etc. This was necessary because the old access, which was via the original forecourt which was at a higher level next to the restaurant,
