Close up of image 'gwrls881'. The Health & Safety officials of the 21st century would have a fit if they saw today the precautions being undertaken during the rebuilding as seen above. The safety rails consist of planks nailed to timber uprights whilst a solitary notice reads 'GWR, Warning, Contractors Operations, Please Take Care'. The extension to the platform which was undertaken in the late 19th century can be seen above. The new platform surface being paved with stone blocks whilst the original platform was constructed with timber planks.
