This close up of image 'gwrls865' shows the bookstall located towards the London end of the up platform. The bookstall was a later addition and was built to the right of the refreshment just seen to the left in this photograph. The up platform was originally built with limited facilities and then expanded to provide two waiting rooms as well as the refreshment room and lavatories. On the platform is a porter's trolley which would be used to convey parcels and luggage from the up platform to the exit on the down platform. Porters used the barrow crossing which situated at the London end of the platform as seen in several photographs including image 'gwrls245'.
