GWR Route: Banbury to Wolverhampton

Two porters pose by the last horse-drawn cart used for goods delivery by the ex-GWR station in Leamington Spa. The photograph illustrates why a small pair of wheels were used at the front of the cart. With a horse between the shafts a cart would have had a very large turning circle if the wheels could not rotate to the extent seen above which would have been impracticable for most narrow streets. 25th August 1949
