GWR Route: Banbury to Wolverhampton
Leamington Spa: gwrls848
A GWR 'Standard Goods' 0-6-0 stands at the Birmingham end of
the station with a train comprising empty coal wagons. To the left of the train
in the 'six foot' is a timber planked walkway which appears to run past the
down starting signal. John Copsey writes 'A staff member can be seen crouching
down in the foreground, possibly examining a fitting. Goods trains required
regular inspection en route, particularly when grease axlebox vehicles were
included in the formation. Indeed, any of the faster down vacuum goods trains
containing grease 'box wagons were required to stop at Leamington for
inspection. 9th January 1911
