GWR Route: Banbury to Wolverhampton
Pre-grouping Locomotives at Leamington: gwrls250
Barry Freeman GRA, writes to correct the original caption of
this GWR 4-4-0, 'The first three numbers on the bufferbeam are clearly 330.
This I believe identifies the engine as No. 3306 'Armorel', which was the only
one of the first ten to be rebuilt from a 'Duke' with a parallel boiler. The
photograph was taken between February 1902 and April 1906, when this locomotive
was reboilered with a half coned boiler.'
