GWR Route: Banbury to Wolverhampton
Leamington Shed: gwrls230b
This close up of image 'gwrls230' shows one of the steel GWR
'loco' wagons standing empty on the coaling stage access line. These 'loco'
wagons were built to ease the coaling process having two small bottom hung
doors as seen above. The tubs that transferred the coal from these wagons to
the locomotive's bunker or tender were small as they had to be manhandled
throughout the entire process and therefore only small amounts of coal needed
to off-loaded each time. The tubs ran on a narrow gauge track built at
right-angles to the access road.
