Ex-GWR 4-6-0 King class No 6001 'King Edward II' pauses at the end of the up platform at the head of a Paddington express circa 1948. Number 6001 was built at Swindon works in July 1927 and remained in service until September 1962 when it was withdrawn from Stafford Road shed to be scrapped the following January by Cox & Danks of Langley Green near Oldbury.
