GWR Route: Banbury to Wolverhampton

Ex-GWR 4-6-0 Castle class No 5022 'Wigmore Castle' stands at
the London end of the up platform at the head of a Paddington train in March
1948. Although less than three months since nationalisation the engine has
British Railways in lettering on tender. Number 5022 was built at Swindon works
in August 1932 and remained in service until June 1963 when it was withdrawn
from Stafford Road shed in Wolverhampton for scrapping in June 1964 by J
Cashmore of Great Bridge.
