GWR Route: Stratford on Avon to Honeybourne

Long Marston Station: gwrlm484a

Close up of image 'gwrlm484' showing the most obvious visual change to the station, the steps of the signal box being moved nearer to the line to accommodate a toilet for the signalman. As part of this facility was the erection of a stench pipe outside and painted in matching colours. The signal box is presumed to have had the benefit of electrical lighting as there is evidence of electrical trunking and junction boxes above the arched window of the station building. Seen in the earliest photographs is the lamp fixed to the corner at 45 degrees to the signal box providing lighting to the pedestrian crossing adjacent to the crossing gates.
