GWR Route: North Warwickshire Line
Long Marston Station: gwrlm481a
This close up of image 'gwrlm481' shows the GWR 2-6-2T with
what appears to be sheeting over the bunker. This would have been erected by
the crew to minimise the amount of dust that would have otherwise blown off the
bunker into the cab. The porters luggage trolley would have gained access to
the down platform via the level crossing.
This view also shows that a trailing crossover was provided
between the up and down lines with ground signals in the six foot (the area
between the two running lines). The signal seen controlling the up line in
images 'gwrlm478' and 'gwrlm479' appears therefore to have been sited to
control this cross over too.
Other items of note are; the wagons in the refuge siding
seem to be without a locomotive and the level crossing is boarded to provide
road traffic with hard standing when crossing the line.
