Hatton Station: gwrhj106c

Close up showing the up platform building, a grounded coach body and corrugated iron buildings

Close up of image 'gwrhj106' showing the main station building which accommodated the booking hall on up platform building, a grounded coach body and corrugated iron buildings. Hatton station built to coincide with the opening of Oxford to Birmingham Railway in 1852 and this portion of the station dates from this era. The main wooden building with inadequate canopy contained the booking office, booking hall, ladies waiting room and lavatory. It had a small brick extension at the far end, which contained the gentlemen’s toilet. Between this station building and the grounded coach can be seen a corrugated iron building which was originally a goods lock up. In later years both this lock up and the grounded coach were used as cycle sheds with racking for 18 and 24 cycles respectively.
