GWR Route: Banbury to Wolverhampton
Hockley and Duddeston: gwrhd745
The damaged offices one day short of two months since the
air raid. The speed of the repair was a very creditable affair bearing in mind
the shortage of labour and materials in war-torn Britain. The external
brickwork has been finished and the roof is well on the way to be completed
with just a few tiles left to be done.
The distinctive veranda however will not be repaired and
the part less damaged will be removed. Despite their being a war, commerce
clearly continues as demonstrated by a new St Bruno Pipe Tobacco advert on the
side of the horse-drawn wagon. 11th February 1941
