GWR Route: Banbury to Wolverhampton
Hockley and Duddeston: gwrhd737
This photograph is one in a set of three showing the upper
floor of the main office after it was rebuilt following the damage caused by
the Luftwaffe on the evening of 12th December 1940. The hierarchy that once
pervaded British businesses is illustrated by the fact that there were several
dining/mess facilities provided across the yard. In the main office block this
was the canteen for the wages (uniformed) staff and it was located on the top
floor nearest the Top shed. C1967
