The redevelopment and enlargement of the Outward and
Tranship shed was intended to provide a single facility to accommodate all
types of shipments. This meant that the old Inwards shed, seen above, could be

construct a new shunting spur from the south end of the sidings into and
through the building. As part of this plan, the canopy that projected down the
side of the shed, was removed to allow for part of the wall to be altered to
