GWR Route: Banbury to Wolverhampton
Hockley and Duddeston: gwrhd699
This view looking south towards Birmingham Snow Hill was
taken in the last few years of the station's service. The Top shed is on the
right whilst the Round shed is on the left. Of note is the mini coal bunker
used to store the coal for the brazier that would be sited under the water
column (the bottom of which can just be seen on the right).
Note the "tap" used to turn the water on and off is a
standard fitting and therefore would appear to be more at home on a locomotive
than a station. The platform lamp is unusual being so tall and ladders either
side of the column with stand on top.
