GWR Route: Banbury to Wolverhampton
Hockley and Duddeston: gwrhd689
Looking North- West towards Wolverhampton with "All Saints
Street" bridge crossing over the railway. This view was taken after the
introduction of DMUs on the line as is evident by the white sign with the No
"6" on it. This indicated to the driver of a six-car unit to stop at this point
along the platform.
According to Frank Popplewell in his series of articles in
the GWR Journal on Hockley the transfer traffic from the goods line on the left
to the "Round" yard on the right required a tank engine to haul a rake of
wagons northwards along the lengthy shunting spur, which ran almost to Soho,
before propelling them across the main running lines into "Round" yard.
