This close up of image 'gwrhd686' shows the preparation work being carried for the new structure. The new "Top" shed would not only replace the existing "Outwards and Transit" shed but also the Night Office which had a lock-up underneath. The roof tops on the houses in Pitsford Street indicate that the road sloped down, sufficient for Icknield Street which had a junction with it, to pass below the station and goods yard. C1938
