According to Frank Popplewell the "plant and machinery workshops were situated, in the block above, on the edge of the canal basin site, across the road from the new invoicing (Top) office with an entrance off Crabtree Road". Originally the wheelwrights and farriers were housed in the building and the small block on the left housed the veterinary's office and dispensary. The water tower stored the water pumped up from the artesian well providing sufficient pressure to be used on GWR facilities from Soho to Tyseley. C1960s
