GWR Route: Banbury to Wolverhampton
Hockley and Duddeston: gwrhd680
There is little evidence in this photograph, taken in the
last year of operations at Hockley, of just how busy the basin was in
transferring goods to other parts of Birmingham via the extensive network of
canals. Frank Popplewell states there were other canal and railway interchange
basins on the Great Western system in Birmingham, but Hockley was the most
important. C1967
