This close of image 'gwrhd675' was included to show the variety of "cartage" vehicles employed by the GWR. Horse drawn traffic had been declining since the end of the First World War with the rise of the motor lorry. The Second World War and the subsequent petrol rationing meant that not only was the switch stopped but actually reversed.
