GWR Route: North Warwickshire Line
Henley in Arden - New Station: gwrha467a
In this close up of image 'gwrha467' an unidentified GWR
2-6-2T Prairie tank engine with a four coach train is waiting for the right of
way to come off the spur on to the down line. Its not known why the train was
on the line because there were no services through to the old station nor was
it a stabling point.
The date of the photograph is unknown so it might be a
locomotive special for one of the many societies that ran such excursions
during the 1950s and 60s. The water tower is a standard GWR design whilst the
gas lamps date back to 1908 when the line opened.
