This close up of image 'gwrfc84' shows the joint LMS/GWR signal box built in the early years of the grouping to reduce both companies operating costs. In addition the station master was appointed by both companies and it is understood that his cap bore the badges of the GWR and LMS. The signal box had two sets of levers, one set facing and controlling the SMJ with the other set facing and controlling the GWR main line.
