GWR Route: Banbury to Wolverhampton
Fenny Compton: gwrfc82b
This close up of image 'gwrfc82' shows the station staff
standing in line for the photographer. Even though the station served a rural
area the staffing of the station still required a much higher staffing level
than would be the case today. The staff of such a station would have included
the likes of stationmaster, a booking clerk, porter, signalman and shunter.
The up platform structure is built from timber but was of a
different design to seen on the down platform being built when the Oxford to
Birmingham line was first opened. The closeness of the lampposts was necessary
as the illumination provided from the oil lamps was fairly poor. C1900
