This close up of image 'gwrfc812' shows details of the up platform and its buildings in the early 1960s. It is thought that the building was constructed with a 'bay' window in order to allow staff to monitor the platform and traffic from their booking office. The size of the building provides evidence that from the outset the GWR considered the station as a rural facility on the mainline.
