GWR 4-6-0 Hall class No 5938 'Stanley Hall' is seen passing through Earlswood Lake station at the head of an up West Country express service. Built at Swindon in July 1933 just a few years before the photograph was taken No 5938 lasted some 30 years in service being withdrawn from Cardiff East Dock shed in May 1963 to be finally scrapped in September of the same year at Wolverhampton works.
