GWR 4-6-0 No 5938 'Stanley Hall' on an up West of England express train. Number 5938 was built at Swindon in July 1933 shortly before the photograph was taken. It lasted 30 years in service being withdrawn from Cardiff East Dock shed in May 1963 and finally scrapped in September of the same year at Wolverhampton works.
