GWR Route: North Warwickshire Line
Danzey for Tanworth Station: gwrdt453
Looking towards Birmingham with the goods yard located at
the end of the station off the up (left) line. Access to the goods yard from
the up line was via a trailing points at the far end of the yard whilst access
from the down line was via a trailing points off the down and then via single
slip points across the up line.
The late 1950s had seen some slight changes to the station.
The numerous lamp posts had gone replaced by fewer but brighter electric
lights. The introduction of Derby built class 116 DMUs on the line in 1957
resulted in stations having signs erected on the platform advising drivers
where to stop. The white sign above with the number 6 indicates to drivers of 6
coach trains to stop at this point. Some stations had two such signs with
different numbers reflecting the different lengths of trains used on a
particular route.
