GWR Route: North Warwickshire Line
Danzey for Tanworth Station: gwrdt451
Looking towards Stratford Upon Avon. The state of the
station and the lack of staining in the four foot (between the running rails)
would seem to indicate the photograph was taken shortly after opening. The
passenger footbridge appears to be steel structure with timber cladding. At
sometime in the future, and for unknown reason, this was changed to a concrete
footbridge.
The station buildings are of the sectional type employed by
the GWR at a number of locations (Spring Road, Grimes Hill and Wooten Wawen)
along the North Warwickshire route. The reason for the this type of design is
not known but is probably due to the GWR anticipating lighter levels of
passenger numbers than stations where a more substantial buildings were
provided.
