GWR Route: Alcester to Hatton Junction

A pleasant afternoon’s view of the recently opened station from the new footbridge adjacent to the road bridge with a Leamington to Stratford local passenger train in the down platform. This train formation was typical of the period with a Great Western 51XX 2-6-2T locomotive and a pair of brake composite coaches. These coach pairs were termed ‘D sets’ in Birmingham (although elsewhere they were known as ‘ B sets’). There were three sets marked ‘Leamington Stratford and Worcester No X). This is the No 1 set. C1939.
