GWR Route: Alcester to Hatton Junction

A view of the old station from the Hatton end of the goods yard on 22nd April 1939 shortly before this station was closed to passengers. The X on the signal indicates that this is ‘out of use’ although the signal wire can be seen attached to the platform face. Through the road bridge the new station down platform is visible.

The work is substantially complete with the new down running line ballasted, but the contractor’s excavator and stacks of tramway track lengths are still evident in the goods yard. The private owner 6 plank open wagon in the foreground belongs to Mr E Thomas - Coal Merchant at Claverdon.
