GWR Route: Alcester to Hatton Junction

Looking back towards the road bridge, beyond which is Claverdon old station. The construction of the down platform of the new station is underway and coarse stone has been laid as bottom ballast for the second trackbed in this photograph taken by the GWR official photographer on 24th May 1938.

On the left the first coarse of the up platform has been laid as far as the old bridge abutment, while on the right a large number of 6” earthernware drainage pipes are evident on the hill.
