GWR Route: Alcester to Hatton Junction
Claverdon Station: gwrc872
An early picture of Claverdon Station after the track
modifications and construction of the loading wharf in 1885, but before the
platform signal box was built in 1891. The station building is also in its
original condition with only two chimney stacks.
A variety of wagons populate the siding by the loading
wharf, including two GWR open wagons. The positioning of the ownership and load
limit lettering on the left of these wagons indicate that they were built prior
to the mid 1880s, when standard practice was changed to paint the wagon number
on the left and the ownership on the right (from 1899 to 1903 cast plates
became the standard for this information). C1890
