GWR Route: Alcester to Hatton Junction

Looking along the replacement station platforms towards Bearley. The upgrading of the line involved doubling the track and constructing two 450’ long platforms. Symmetrical platform buildings each containing a waiting room and toilet facilities were constructed facing each other near the north end of the platforms. From the outset these platform buildings had electric lighting and electric platform lights were also provided. Additionally a mains water connection from Birmingham Waterworks replaced the well supply.

The family on the right are dressed in light casual clothes so it would be fair to assume that the photograph was taken in the summer. Circa1950
