The old station now turned into a lock-up with the opening of the new station

Once the new station had been opened on the other side of the road bridge in 1939, the old station building became a goods lock-up. The booking office entrance was bricked up and three of the chimneys removed. To assist loading and unloading a section of the platform was raised, but by the time this photograph was taken goods services had ceased. C1960.
