GWR Route: Alcester to Hatton Junction

Claverdon Station: gwrc10

Claverdon station as a train steams under the road bridge at the Bearley end of the station

The platform at Claverdon as a train steams under the road bridge at the Bearley end of the station circa 1907. The engine is probably a 2-4-0 engine. The second bridge visible behind the first arch was one of the two occupation bridges, which were both removed in 1922 although the abutments remained until the track was doubled and the new station constructed in 1938. The platform was surfaced with a diamond patterned blue brick with a red brick edge. The building is the redundant platform signal box, which was converted into a store in about 1906. In the loop line are several open wagons. The nearest two are both branded ‘Edwin Elvis’.
