Close up of image 'gwrbsh81' showing the rolling stock stabled adjacent to the sector table at the end of the bay platforms. At this point the station crossed over Great Charles Street and one of the supporting plate bridge girders can be seen between the tracks. It is presumed that both these platforms are in public use and not being used by contractors or station staff for temporary accommodation during the rebuilding of the station. In platform 3 on the left is a clerestory coach of some vintage with a raised centre section of roof together with a short parcels brake van (PBV) with a central guards look-out. In platform 4 on the right is a more modern unganged composite coach with a horse box (telegraphic code - Paco). At Snow Hill there was a platform for loading horses, but this was located at the other end of the station near the tunnel entrance. It is possible that these bay platforms were used for temporarily storing stock that was to be added to (or had been removed from) the main line down trains.
